The SET Award is an international selection program that attracts several hundred to nearly 1,000 applications annually from more than 100 countries worldwide. Start-ups are comprehensively evaluated based on criteria including technological innovation, market scalability, impact on the energy and climate sectors, and overall business feasibility, with the aim of identifying companies with strong future potential in the fields of energy transition and decarbonization.

The award is operated by the German Energy Agency (dena), a government-affiliated energy organization in Germany, and is supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. Within this framework, the SET100 represents a group of 100 start-ups that are internationally recognized as future leaders in driving the global energy transition.

We develop and commercialize a radiative cooling material branded as “SPACECOOL,” which enables zero-energy cooling (passive cooling) by reflecting solar radiation while emitting heat as infrared radiation into outer space. When applied to the surfaces of buildings and outdoor infrastructure, SPACECOOL contributes to reducing cooling loads and CO₂ emissions in urban and industrial environments.

We have advanced commercial deployments and demonstration projects not only in Japan but also in high-temperature regions such as the Middle East and Southeast Asia. These achievements in real-world implementation, together with the potential for global expansion, were recognized in our selection as part of the SET100.

Through this selection, we believe that SPACECOOL has gained international recognition as a promising start-up within the global energy and climate ecosystem. Going forward, we will continue to accelerate the social implementation of solutions that contribute to the energy transition and climate change mitigation, in collaboration with partners around the world.
