SPACECOOL Selected for METI’s FY2024 Supplementary Budget Program to Support Demonstration Projects in Thailand and Saudi Arabia— Accelerating the Global Social Implementation of Radiative Cooling Materials —

SPACECOOL INC. is pleased to announce that, as of February 5, 2026, two of its projects have been selected for the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI)’s FY2024 Supplementary Budget Global South Future-Oriented Co-Creation Program Grant (Small-Scale Demonstration / Feasibility Study Program).

The selected projects are: (i) a large-roof demonstration project for radiative cooling materials in Thailand, and (ii) a local production demonstration project for products targeting the Middle East market in Saudi Arabia.

The selected projects aim to demonstrate temperature reduction and energy-saving effects of radiative cooling materials when applied to large roofs of manufacturing facilities in Thailand, while establishing a local deployment framework through collaboration with local construction partners. In Saudi Arabia, the project seeks to verify the optimization of local production and supply of radiative cooling materials under extreme heat conditions, thereby contributing to the decarbonization and heat mitigation policies promoted by the Saudi Arabian government.

This grant program aims to address challenges faced by countries in the Global South, while strengthening Japan’s economic security, revitalizing domestic industries, and enhancing economic partnerships with Global South countries.

SPACECOOL INC. has been expanding the adoption of SPACECOOL in global markets, particularly in Southeast Asia and the Middle East. In Thailand, large-scale installation on factory roofs has contributed to decarbonization efforts, and applications on air-conditioning outdoor units have achieved approximately 16% reductions in electricity consumption. In Saudi Arabia, demonstration tests conducted by local government agencies confirmed that, in occupied container houses, air-conditioning energy consumption was reduced by an average of approximately 29%, with potential CO₂ emission reductions of approximately 21 tons over a 15-year period.

SPACECOOL INC. believes that this selection reflects the recognition of SPACECOOL’s energy-saving performance and its contribution to decarbonization, as demonstrated through these overseas implementation results.

Going forward, SPACECOOL INC. will continue to accelerate the global social implementation of SPACECOOL, aiming to reduce air-conditioning energy consumption and CO₂ emissions from buildings and outdoor assets, including air-conditioning outdoor units, across global markets.
